Highlanders Close in on Post Season Berth with Sweep of Andrew College

CUTHBERT, GA – The Highlanders stepped on the gas and closed in on a playoff berth with an 8-4 and 8-2 sweep of Andrew College on Wednesday.  The Highlanders tallied 28 hits in the two games with Hannah Rae Griffin leading the charge with six hits in the two games.  Hunter Lee plated five Highlanders on the day with her 6 for 9 performance which included a double and a triple.  Lauren DeLoach also went 4 for 4 in game two.  Maddie Greene "Senior" earned both wins on the mound for the Highlanders with the support of McKenzie Barnes and Maddie Green "Junior" out of the bullpen. 

The Highlanders are now 14-10 in the GCAA and are presently in fourth place with four games to go.  "It's going to come down to the very last game of the regular season to determine who is in and at what seed," said Head Coach Ally Hattermann.  "The great thing about this is we are sitting in a very good position with 100% control of our fate."

The Highlanders will host the ABAC Fillies in a 3:00 PM doubleheader on Saturday.  Gordon swept the Fillies back in March in two well played, extra-inning softball games.  Saturday is also "Sophomore Day" for the Highlanders.  Recognition for McKenzie Barnes, Lauren DeLoach, Maddie Greene, Montana Schug, Shelby Sims and Morgan Sterrett will begin at 2:30 PM.
