Highlanders stay HOT, Now 5-1
Gordon State women’s soccer continued their strong start with a statement win over South Georgia, handing the previously undefeated side their first loss of the season.
The Highlanders kept the momentum rolling with a 2-0 victory over South Georgia State, Improving their record to 5-1 on the season.
The first half was tightly contested, with both teams trading chances and strong defensive stands. The breakthrough came in the 64mintue when Cara Bishop struck a stunning freekick from 30 Yards out to put the Highlanders ahead. Just four minutes later, Georgia Fillingim doubled the lead, finishing off a perfectly placed assist from Maci Lanier Lauren to make it 2-0
From there, Gordon's defense held firm. Rebecca Tanner Stood tall in goal, recording 8 saves to keep the clean sheet, her second on the season.
With the victory, Gordon improves to 5-1 on the season, staying hot and and building confidence heading into an important stretch in the season and will return to the pitch Wednesday October 1st at Central Georgia Tech College.
